"Typically is that I end up painting dead insects on a window in Chamonix rather than Mont Blanc that I went to paint"
Mirja Ilkka started painting with her Grandmother at a young age. With an enormous passion for painting she graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki. A versatile background can be seen in her works where Ilkka brakes the traditional boundaries of classical painting with her subjects. Ilka's subjects can be found both in nature and in her memories. Exploring the subjects is central to her creative process and after a careful study Ilkka let's them“go their own way”.
